Always wanted to buy a fixer-upper but never quite had the cash to throw at it?
There has never been a better time to do it, with the Federal Government’s HomeBuilder scheme offering eligible homeowners a $25,000 grant to help cover the costs of a major renovation.
The property needs to be valued at less than the national price cap of $1.5 million and you have to spend more than $150,000 on the renovation to qualify for the grant.
So if you haven’t already got a property you want to makeover, here are some of the best renovation-ready homes on offer across South Australia.

A fresh lick of paint and some elbow grease would be enough to take this Hills home from drab to fab.
The kitchen and bathroom could do with a modern update while the entertainment deck would need to be completed to make the most of the picturesque views surrounding the property.
Other than that, the 1974-built four-bedroom house is in relatively good condition, offering househunters a blank canvas to let their imaginations run wild.
Offers for the property close on July 8 at 5pm.

The solid brick home has strong bones but looks tired and rundown inside.
Multi-colored walls, worn carpets and dated curtains can be found throughout the three bedroom house.
On the plus side, it’s on an 841sq m block so has plenty of space to be extended if desired and multiple sheds in the backyard for storage, as well as low maintenance gardens.
It is on the market with a $530,000 price tag.

Buyers looking for a big project will love this three-bedroom home, which is in need of an owner willing to breathe new life into it.
New carpet and fresh paint could restore some of the rooms to their former glory but the kitchen and bathrooms would need some extra TLC.
Restorations aside, the property has a lot to offer buyers, including a spa, outdoor entertainment deck and two sheds. It is also across the road from a reserve.
The house is listed with a $185,000 asking price.

It’s the type of property most people would associate with the word “renovator”.
The carpets are stained and worn, the paint on the doors and walls is either peeling or chipped and the kitchen and bathrooms have seen better days.
While it might look like a lost cause to many, the four-bedroom house is the perfect project for others looking for a challenge.
It is listed for $205,000.

Patchwork wood floors and cracked walls highlight this bungalow’s need for an extensive renovation.
Built in the 1920s, the three-bedroom house is on the market for the first time after three generations in the same family.
While it needs a lot of work, the house has a range of character features worth maintaining, including lofty ceilings, leadlight windows and a statement front veranda.
The property is scheduled to go under the hammer on July 11 at 11am.
