Once a casual dining and event venue, the Towne House is now a space for multiple different dining experiences on the Main Line.

D’Ignazio’s Towne House has been a familiar fixture in Media for 65 years. Once known for family dining and hosting milestone events, the community fixture fell on hard times and finally closed in 2015. Alpha Delta Pi House Renovation Approved | News

The UA Board of Trustees approved the Alpha Delta Pi sorority’s proposal to renovate their home on Oakland Avenue next summer so members will have a place to do philanthropic, social and academic projects while bonding within their sisterhood, said the president of the Alpha Delta Pi Delta Delta chapter housing corporation.

This renovation will add new study spaces, a larger meeting room and redesign the kitchen, as well as update the systems and elements within the house such as windows, air conditioning and the mechanical system, said Jay Huneycutt, director of Planning and Design at Facilities Management .

Haven House Renovation: Best of Old and New

Much has changed in home construction since Smith College dedicated Haven House as a student residence in the early 1900s. Builders no longer insulate walls by filling them with bricks. And the design of windows and furnaces has progressed dramatically to improve energy efficiency.

Homeowners and local contractors square off over a Forest Glade renovation project

The inside of Karen and Darryl Dagenais’s house looks as if it’s under construction. No drywall, electrical switches or lights. And only a couple of plugs to power the kitchen appliances.

The two say they had to rip out all the plaster and insulation last year because it had been badly damaged from rain water pouring into the house through tarps serving as a temporary roof.

“It was basically like Niagara Falls in our home,” Karen said, adding the roof had been removed during a renovation project to add two more levels to their back-split home in Windsor’s Forest Glade
